Photo Essay:  The Kibera Slums of Kenya

Thursday, July 16, 2009
By Valerie Goodloe

Los Angeles-based EBONY staff photographer Valerie Goodloe has been documenting Eastern and Western Africa as a personal project for several years. This photo essay on the Kubera Slums section of Nairobi, Kenya is the second of a six-part series that began with an essay on the Masai.

For the next several weeks, EbonyJet.com will feature Goodloe’s Africa series as extension of our Open Studio project, an ongoing feature focusing on the work of emerging visual, literary and performing artists who we think deserve your attention.

See our Photo Galleries page in Multimedia to view more work by Valerie Goodloe and other Open Studio featured artists.
