Earnest Lee Hudson, popularly known as Ernie Hudson was born on the 17th of December, 1945. He is an American playwright, producer, and actor. Although Ernie Hudson has taken part in lots of movies, he is most famous for his role as Winston Zeddemore in the comedy, Ghostbuster. Apart from being famous for starring in the Ghostbusters film series, Ernie Hudson is also popular for his role as Sergeant Darryl Albrencht in the Crow, as well as Arden Leo Glynn in HBO’s Oz. Some of the other movies that Ernie Hudson has taken part in are The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1992), Leviathan (1989), Airheads (1992), Congo (1995), The Basketball Diaries (1995), etc. Although Hudson began acting in the 1970s, he came to limelight in the 1980s after acting as Winston Zeddemore.
Ernie Hudson never got to know who his father was. Also, his mother died when he was just two months old. After the death of his mother, Hudson had to be raised by his grandmother in Bento Harbor, Michigan.
Ernie Hudson is married to Linda Kingsberg-Hudson, a former flight attendant. He met her while starring in the Great White Hope. Although Hudson is black and is married to a white woman, he claims to have been initially reluctant to get married to her because of the challenges that interracial couples have to face. He went on to say that even after getting married, quite a number of people advised them to avoid having children as their children would be unsure of their color and race. Ernie and Linda Hudson disregarded what people told them about having children and currently have two sons. In addition to the children that Hudson has with Linda, he also has two children from his previous marriage.
In 1963, Hudson got married to Jeannie Moore. The marriage produced two boys, Rahaman Hudson and Ernie Hudson Jr. Also, it lasted for just 13 years before they got divorced. After the divorce, Hudson moved to California with his sons.
Prior to becoming an actor, Ernie Hudson was a member of the United States Marine Corp. He became a member just after leaving high school. Unfortunately, he was a member of the United States Marine Corp for only three months. He was dismissed because of asthma. After his dismissal from the United States Marine Corp, Hudson became a Playwright at Concept East. Concept Eats happens to be the longest existing black theater company in the US. To get better at writing and acting, Hudson began attending Wayne State University. After attending Wayne State University, he went on to attend Yale School of Drama.
Although Hudson claims to be a practicing Christian. He has come out to say that he is of the opinion that no church can be regarded as right and others wrong.
