Are there any New Ideas?
It sounds nuts, but I’ve always had this theory that if the human brain uses electric signals to send thoughts from one place to the other than it also serves as a transmitter and a receiver. People have thoughts, those thoughts are broadcast, people of like minds pick them up. Only one or two will act on it. Only one will be successful - generally not the originator of the thought.
Crazy? Maybe. But it also could be part of the explanation for the “no new ideas” perception that people speak of, especially if they are in media and the arts.
It also an issue of logic. People have similar experiences, similar influences. And that stimuli produces similar results as a matter of pure logic. So someone who uses the same notes as you in the same pattern did not steal from you, they may just have similar influences and thus similar responses.
