The New Politics: Old School CBC Members on the Hot Seat

Every politician in his right mind has been smartly following the impact of technology on politics, and how a new generation of leaders (and voters) are using that technology to create a new dynamic , and some real change and accountability.

Everybody except Rep. Albert Wynn (Dem.- So He Says) from Maryland, that is.

You think he would have learned his lesson when candidate Donna Edwards came thisclose to spanking him on his own turf in the last election. But then he claimed a very thin margin of victory as a mandate. To make matters worse, as our legal writer Brian Gilmore wrote a few weeks ago, he voted for a communications bill that did not include net neutrality - effectively killing the future for a whole generation of Black folk who want to be entrepreneurs on the web. And the real kicker, he voted in favor of the 2005 Bankruptcy bill that’s been the force behind so many folk losing homes in the credit crunch.

But as always, those who sleep get slept on. Now a new campaigns season is brewing for Wynn and Donna Edwards is back and breaking out the YouTube guns along with her. Something tells me the net ain’t gonna be so neutral about Wynn this time around.
